The Cook, His Wife and Her Shoes launches their latest shoe collection

Fashion media, bloggers, and stylists gathered for a champagne and chocolate themed evening to view the latest shoe collection of the shoe shop, The Cook, His wife and Her Shoes, on Thursday 19 February 2015.

Upon stepping into the Parisian style shoe boutique, guests were welcomed by ‘The Cook’, whose name is Alun, with Luc Belaire Rose Champagne, Stolen Recipe Iced Tea and Adora Handmade Chocolates. Adorning the shelves were the very latest shoes by exclusive brands such as Hoss Intropia, Chie Mihara, Repetto, Tily Rose and MMissoni.

Not only are many of these brands unavailable in other Australian boutiques, many of the colour combinations and designs are hand picked and created exclusively for this Surry Hills store.

Regina, who is ‘The Wife’, loves shoes so much that she went into labour wearing heels. This is one woman who is committed to a high heel revolution.

On top of the range of brands, The Cook, His Wife and Her Shoes now offers private fittings to all of their clients. Guests were invited to reserve a time to visit the store (appointments can be arranged out of hours), where they will be treated to a cup of luxury tea while Regina or Alun fit them with the perfect heel across their range.

If you would like to book a private fitting with The Cook, His Wife and Her Shoes, please contact the boutique on (02) 9319 1587.

Graham Shearer: A Private Collection opens at SUNSTUDIOS Alexandria, Sydney

Graham Shearer is an icon of the Australian fashion scene; spending his time behind the camera capturing the world’s most beautiful women for the world’s biggest brands and campaigns. On 23 October 2014, he showcased photos from his photographic career including images of Elle Macpherson, Nicole Kidman, Tyra Banks, Megan Gale and Rachel Hunter, just to name a few, at Sun Studios in Alexandria, Sydney.

With a career spanning the globe, over 30 years and still going strong, Graham Shearer has had the pleasure of photographing and immortalising iconic images. He has shot some of the most iconic covers for Australian magazines in the 80’s and 90’s and retained copyright of those images.

Copies of the prints are available for sale. The price ranges from $500 to $2000 (depending on the number of prints issued for each photo) and the proceeds go towards the charity Reporters Without Borders.

The retrospective ‘Graham Shearer: A Private Collection’ will feature images from all stages of Graham’s career with a few personal/unknown works included.

The exhibition opens 23 October and runs until 14 November 2014.

Thanks to the following sponsors for their generous support: Fashion Vodka, Heineken, Calabria Wines, GB Catering and Adpro Management Group. All prints are proudly sponsored and printed by Canon.

Topshop and Topman launches spring racewear collection

Topshop and Topman launched its first every racewear collection on Wednesday 24 September 2014.

The event featured an interview with Kate Waterhouse, daughter of horse trainer Gai Waterhouse. She answered questions about her family’s racing history, her fashion career and her interest in racing fashion. She advised the audience on how to dress for the various days of the Melbourne Cup Carnival and the dos and don’ts of racewear.

She showed the audience (who sat in stools in front of her) a number of race looks she liked for both men and women. My favourite was the dress that Kate Waterhouse was wearing.

Guests were served Seppelt Salinger Vintage Cuvee 2009, Asahi beer, Voss water and treats from Nectarstone. Reelax played the DJ tunes while guests got to shop for their new racewear look. Everyone who purchased something got a wreath of flowers for their hair and a goodie bag.

Topshop may not be a high end luxury fashion label but on 2 October 2012 jockey Chantelle Buckley won $15,000 on the Fashion on the Field competition sponsored by the Iconic at Rosehill Gardens and she was wearing a Topshop dress purchase from Las Vegas that had been lengthened at the bottom with another piece of fabric by her mother. This just goes to show, you can do quite well for less.
